11/21 Update: Foursquare now automatically forwards your old URL to your new URL, but you should still update print materials and e-mail signatures.
Just a quick note to nonprofits! It looks as though Foursquare has dropped “user” in its vanity URLs for profiles. I can’t find confirmation of this change site-wide on AboutFoursquare.com or on Foursquare’s Twitter account, but it is clear that the old URLs are broken.
If you link to your Foursquare profile on your website or blog, now would be a good time to double-check your link and make the necessary edits.
Old URL:
foursquare.com/user/nonprofitorgs
New URL:
foursquare.com/nonprofitorgs
Coincidently, two new nonprofit partners were announced today, the Red Cross and MOMA. Slowly, but steadily they’ve been rolling a lot upgrades lately. That’s good. Honestly, I was getting a little bored with Foursquare. The Foursquare experience is quite different when you live in a small town. Until this past election, I hadn’t earned a badge since June! Hoping for more upgrades, and of course, more nonprofit partners. 🙂
